Civil Departments

Circuit Civil – Civil actions in which the matter in controversy exceeds the sum of $30,000.00

County Civil – Claims of more than $8,000.00 but less than $30,000.00.

Domestic Support – Child Support/Alimony.

Domestic Violence – Petition for Injunction.

Evictions – Non-payment of rent.

Family – Family/Domestic relations matters.

Guardianship – A function of the Guardianship division of the Marion County Clerk's Office is to audit and monitor the guardianship files active in Marion County.

Juvenile Dependency - All dependency actions that are affiliated with the Department of children and Families, all truancy cases, all CINS/FINS cases (children and families in need of services) and adoptions cases where the Termination of Parental Rights is sought thru the dependency court.

Mental Health – The term "mental health" for our purposes, basically refers to several different types of filings in the Probate, Guardianship, and Mental Health Department.

Probate – The term "probate" generally refers to the process in which a decedent's assets, or estate, are administered. There are several types of Probate proceedings which are all filed with our office.

Small (Summary) Claims – A Small (Summary) Claims case is a legal action filed in county court to settle minor legal disputes among parties where the dollar amount involved is $8,000 or less.
