Clerk's Office Awarded Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting

OCALA, Fla. (March 7, 2023) – The Marion County Clerk of Court and Comptroller’s Office has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2021.

The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

This is the 37th consecutive year that the Marion County Clerk of Court and Comptroller’s Office has received this award, and the third year in a row for Clerk Gregory C. Harrell.

“I commend Finance Director Jennifer Cole and her team for helping us achieve this significant certification,” said Gregory C. Harrell, Marion County Clerk of Court and Comptroller. “The full and accurate reporting of Marion County’s finances is an arduous, but important and necessary task that the citizens of Marion County deserve and can take great pride in knowing is being done with excellence.”

GFOA advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research for more than 21,000 members and the communities they serve.
