News | Clerk's Office Receives GFOA’s Triple Crown for the Second Consecutive Year
OCALA, Fla. (May 13, 2026) – The Marion County Clerk of Court and Comptroller’s Office has earned the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) prestigious Triple Crown for the second consecutive year, recognizing excellence in financial reporting and budgeting.
The honor includes awards for Marion County’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2024, as well as its budget for the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1, 2025.
The ACFR for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2024 received GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, the highest recognition in governmental accounting. This marks the 40th consecutive year that the Clerk’s Office has received this award.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management, according to GFOA.

The PAFR for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2024 earned the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting, recognizing clear, accessible communication of financial information.
According to GFOA, the award represents a significant achievement by the entity. In order to be eligible for the PAFR Award, a government must also submit its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report to GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program and receive the Certificate for the current fiscal year. Each eligible report is reviewed by judges who evaluate the report based on the following categories: reader appeal, understandability, distribution methods, creativity and other elements.

Finally, Marion County has been awarded GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its fiscal year budget beginning Oct. 1, 2025.
According to GFOA, this award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and represents a significant achievement by the entity. Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.
