In carrying out this responsibility, the Clerk will:
(1) Recruit, hire, train, and promote for all job classifications without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, citizenship, marital status, or disability.
(2) Make employment and promotion decisions based solely on an individual's qualifications for the position available, thereby furthering the principle of equal employment opportunity.
(3) Ensure that all other personnel actions and programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, promotions, demotions, transfers, layoffs, terminations, training, education, and social and recreational programs will be administered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, marital status, or disability.
(4) It is also the responsibility of each member of the management staff and each supervisor to work to assure a continuation of this Clerk's policies of equal employment opportunity for all persons on the basis of individual merit.
(5) Any applicant for employment or employee of the Clerk who feels he or she has been discriminated against in any manner dealing with employment or promotion within the Clerk's Office will have the right to file a complaint of discrimination.
(6) Any complaint of violation of the equal opportunity policy may be handled through the regular complaint procedure. Employees may also report such complaints directly to their supervisor. All such complaints will be promptly investigated and, if deemed valid, corrective action will be taken.
(7) The Clerk will assure that no adverse action will be taken against an employee or prospective employee because he or she made a complaint, testified, assisted, or participated in any manner in any investigation, proceeding, or hearing resulting from a complaint of discrimination.
The Clerk shares a common belief that each employee should be able to work in an environment free of discrimination. Any form of harassment, based on race, color, religion, age, sex, pregnancy, national origin, citizenship, disability, or marital status is prohibited.
If an employee feels he or she is being discriminated against for any of these or other reasons, he or she should bring the matter to the attention of the Clerk who will immediately investigate the situation.
