Payment OptionsPayment of CitationsInfraction violations must be paid within 30 calendar days from the date the ticket was issued. If your ticket is not paid within 30 days, a suspension will be entered against your driver license and will subject you to additional penalties. Collection Agency Marion County has contracted with a collection agency to attempt to collect all outstanding fees, fines, and costs owed to Marion County. The Clerk's Office notifies the collection agency that you have fines outstanding. You will owe an additional fee of the total amount due. The collection agency will contact you by letter and phone to collect this debt. Methods of Payment We accept full payment of fine in cash, check or money order. They may be paid in our Traffic Division Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, except for all major holidays that our office is closed. The Clerk's Office also accepts credit/debit Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover however when using one of these cards, there is a non-refundable charge of $5.00 fee to provide this service. The Clerk's Office does not receive any part of this fee. You may pay your traffic citation online. Click on the Pay Traffic Citation Link on our home page. There is a non-refundable charge of $9.95 to provide this service. Extensions You can get a one time 60 day extension by filling out the Fillable Traffic Payment Agreement, under Forms - Traffic - on our website. There is a $25.00 service charge for the extension and this must be paid prior to the original due date and the service fee is non refundable. If you choose the extension options, you will waive your right to a hearing and waive your right to enroll in a basic driver improvement course. The Traffic Payment Agreement form can be faxed to our office at (352) 671-5598 and then call back 5 minutes later at (352) 671-5599, to pay over the phone by credit card. There is a $5.00 fee for paying by credit/debit card. You can also, mail the form to us along with a $25.00 check or money order. Traffic tickets written for certain driver license, registration, or insurance violations may be dismissed by the Clerk if you file proof that it was valid at the time the citation was issued. A dismissal fee of $10.00 will be charged. |
